2018 Christmas concert
Held at NOA with a packed house we had our usual eclectic programme of non Christmas and seasonal music. It was great fun and new talent emerged when we auditioned for soloists. I don't know how, but one of our singers three week old grandson slept all the way through and only stirred in a quiet bit! A budding musician or a critic. Only time will tell.
The concert raised £1400 from ticket sales and the money was donated to Katharine House Hospice and BHYP. The photo above shows the choir with Nina Baker, Community & Events Fundraising Officer for KHH.
2018 Annual CD recording at Woodworm Studios
Another successful session at Woodworm Studios. It was a long, hot day but we all kept smiling and managed to sing 'I Sing Because I'm Happy' with enthusiasm; with smiling and clapping! I'm not sure what that did for the sound engineers eardrums but there was no anguished screaming from above! Well done everyone.
Thank you to Stuart, our sound engineer and studio owner......you always give us a warm welcome which is very much appreciated. Thank you too to our superb MD, the ever smiling Mike Horth. Well done on the post production Mike!
Milltown Singers 2018 summer concert
Our final session before the summer break was on Thursday 19th July at The Chasewell Hall on Cherwell Heights. Our summer concerts are free and informal concerts for friends and family and anyone who is thinking of joining us in the future.
Come and Sing Music by The Beatles
This was our most successful workshop yet with a total of 96 singers taking part. Mike did a great arrangement and even enlisted his daughter and wife to help record the backing tracks. Well done Family Horth!
Reflecting on the day I can say that I have never seen so many happy people singing with such enjoyment. Yes...for some of the songs were a blast from the past, but you can't keep a good tune down. I will add however that listening to the recording the chaps do sound a bit wistful at the end of When I'm 64!
Thank you all for coming and making it such a fantastic day.
